Man who exposed himself in Papa John's before calling manager an 'a***hole' spared jail

A man who exposed himself inside a branch of Papa John's Pizza has avoided jail.

John Morgan previously admitted indecent exposure after he visited the Gosforth High Street branch following a heavy drinking session on June 15.

The "creepy" 54-year-old sat slumped in the store and uttered unprintable slurs at nearby females.

When a manager challenged him, Morgan called them an "a***hole" as he was bundled out of the takeaway.

He pleaded guilty to the charge when he appeared at North Tyneside Magistrates' Court last month and magistrates have now imposed a hefty three-year community order in a bid to rehabilitate Morgan

The court heard he has a dozen convictions, including racially aggravated offences, to his name.

Magistrates were previously told that Morgan had been rubbing his genitals in the store on June 15, before asking one woman: "Do you want to see me later?"

The woman refused but Morgan responded by exposing himself and making a string of lewd comments before police arrested him.

He later claimed he "couldn't remember anything" having drank so much.

"He's very much embarrassed," said Janice Hall, mitigating.

"He was heavily under the influence of alcohol."

Morgan, of Cambridge Road, Bishop Auckland, was bailed but warned probation would prepare a full pre-sentence report with prison not off the cards.

However, he was handed a community order at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates' Court on July 30.

He was also ordered to pay £90 compensation to his victim and £85 costs.
