Man who drove through junctions and at excessive speed banned from roads

A man who drove dangerously on Coatbridge roads has been banned from driving.

Gary Johnson “failed to obey road signs, failed to stop at junctions and drove at excess speeds” on Blairhill Road, Bank Street, Sunnyside Road and Hollandhurst Road on September 4.

The brazen 22-year-old also failed to stop his vehicle when asked to do so by a male police officer and was found to have got behind the wheel without insurance.

Easterhouse man Johnson then failed to provide two specimens of breath for analysis when taken to Coatbridge police station.

A deferral for social work background reports was then ordered ahead of Johnson’s sentencing at Airdrie Sheriff Court last week.

Sheriff Derek O’Carroll disqualified Johnson from driving for two years – reduced from three due to his plea – on the dangerous driving charge and for 16 months – down from 24 months as he owned up to the offence – for failing to provide the breath specimens.

The sheriff then admonished Johnson on the failing to stop for a police officer and driving without insurance charges.
