A man was caught by police after driving 58 miles from his home in Liverpool on New Year's Eve.
The driver was stopped by officers in Huddersfield Town after travelling there for no reported reason.
According to Yorkshire Live, police were conducting routine checks and managed to intercept the man who was breaching coronavirus legislation by travelling to the town from Liverpool.
They were also looking to halt drivers under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
But after pulling one man over to the side of road, police discovered he had breached Covid-19 legislation by making the 58 mile trip from Liverpool.
A spokesperson for the force said "advice" was given to the driver who had "no justifiable reason for leaving his area."
Similar checks were carried out in Liverpool over the festive period with officers checking drivers' reasons for entering Merseyside.
On New Year's Day, drivers from Tier 4 areas were stopped by police from entering Merseyside on a major route into the city.
Knowsley Police said that they had officers patrolling retail areas to target those who had travelled here to shop.
Pulling cars on main roads that headed through the region, officers say they dealt with a number of drivers who were breaching the rules.

Meanwhile, Merseyside Police's Roads Policing Unit tweeted that they were carrying out checks for 'covid compliance and other crime' in the Liverpool 7 area, including a check site on Edge Lane.
On Facebook, a spokesperson for Merseyside Police posted a number of pictures of officers speaking to drivers and checking which areas they had come from.
They added: "Today Officers are conducting Road Operations and hi-vis patrol around retail areas across Merseyside, enforcing Covid regulation breaches including those entering the area from Tier 4."
