Man who drinks 'three to six litres of cider a DAY' arrested for swearing at police

A man who said he drinks three to six litres of cider a DAY was arrested after swearing at police.

Officers received reports Terry Love, 38, was threatening to smash a window on Union Road, Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, at around 3.30pm on September 4.

Prosecutor Tracy Yates told Blackburn Magistrates’ Court that when police arrived, he was a short distance away drinking from a litre bottle of cider, LancsLive reports.

He swore at officers and continued to be abusive, despite warnings that passers-by could hear his foul language.

Love was then arrested.

He pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly. Love has nine previous convictions for 16 offences, the last being in June 2015.

Defending himself, he said: “I’ve done wrong. I don’t remember swearing. I’m sorry.

“I can’t stop drinking. I have about three to six litres of cider a day, but I’m getting help voluntarily.”

He was fined £40 along with £117 in costs and surcharges.

The chair of the bench told Love, of Beech Road, Accrington: “Go away, continue to get help and don’t be a nuisance in the future.”
