Man who died suddenly after plant hire incident in Pembrokeshire is named as Huw Howells

A man who died suddenly following an incident involving a plant hire vehicle in west Wales has been named as 61-year-old Huw Howells.

Mr Howells, who was from the Lampeter Velfrey area of Pembrokeshire, died on Sunday.

Police were called to the Narberth area following a report of an incident involving a plant vehicle outside a property on Sunday afternoon.

Mr Howells, whose full name was Jonathan Huw Howells, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another man, aged 51, was also taken to hospital for treatment following the incident, and has since returned home.

The Health and Safety Executive has been informed of the incident, and a spokeswoman for HM Coroner’s Office in Pembrokeshire confirmed that they have been notified of the death, but that an inquest has not been formally opened.

A spokeswoman for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “Dyfed-Powys Police can confirm that 61-year-old Jonathan Huw Howells, known as Huw Howells, from the Lampeter Velfrey area, sadly died following an incident involving a plant hire vehicle on Sunday afternoon (November 8).

“Our thoughts remain with his family at this difficult time.”

Tributes have been paid to Mr Howells on social media since his death on Sunday.

One person said he was “a wonderful man, loved by so many - he will be greatly missed.”

Another simply wrote: “A tragic loss of a wonderful and kind gentleman.”
