Man who died in Highland horror smash on A9 named by police as Ryan Smith

A man who died in a horror smash in the Highlands has been named as Ryan Smith by police .

The 25-year-old was driving a Peugeot 208 on the A9 in Alness when collided with a Ford Edge on Friday, November 29.

Emergency services rushed to the scene near Alness point at 5.10pm that day.

The local man from Alness died after the crash while the man and woman inside the Ford suffered minor injuries.

Sergeant Alan Henderson of the Road Policing Unit in Dingwall said: “Our thoughts remain with Mr Smith's family and friends.

"Our investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this tragic incident and we would urge anyone who has information but has not yet spoken to an officer to come forward.

"We are grateful to everyone who has assisted with our enquiries so far.”

A spokesperson for Police Scotland : “Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2861 of November 29.”
