Man who died after horror M6 crash that killed four people has been named

A Polish national who was killed in the horrifying M6 crash has been named as Jonasz Adam Lach.

Jonasz had been living in Fisherman's Wharf in Portumna, Co Galway.

It's understood he was the single occupant of the car which drove down the wrong side of the motorway before colliding with another vehicle.

Funeral arrangements are being made for Jonasz as his relatives have been informed of the tragic news.

On his death notice on RIP.ie, it read: "Jonasz tragically passed from this life on Thursday 19 August. May his soul rest in peace

"With current restrictions funerals are limited in numbers to immediate family and friends only."

It adds that messages of support can be left on the page.

Funeral arrangements will be announced once they are confirmed.

The three occupants of the second vehicle are believed to be a mother, father and a young infant child but no formal identification has yet been made on their bodies.

A local source said that the parents are believed to be foreign nationals while the infant was born in Ireland.

Gardai are renewing their appeal for information on the fatal collision.

A spokesman said: "Gardai are appealing to any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the M6 at Poolboy, Ballinasloe, between 7:20pm and 7:50pm, to make this footage available to Gardai.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact Ballinasloe Garda Station on 090 9631890, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station."
