Man who died after being hit by a car in Stockport was a father-of-two from Brinnington

A man who died after being hit by a car in Stockport on Friday has been named as Leslie Mark Carroll.

Police were called to Silk Close at around 7.50pm, following reports that a car had collided with a man .

A silver Mercedes ML was travelling along Churchgate when it turned left into Silk Close and collided with Mr Carroll, 40. 

Emergency services attended but despite their best efforts the father-of-two, who was from Brinnington , was later pronounced dead in hospital. 

Paying tribute, Leslie's wife Samantha said: "He was a loving husband, a loving father and a loving brother".

The driver stopped at the scene and no arrests have been made.

Greater Manchester Police said in a statement: "While enquiries into the collision are ongoing, officers are appealing for witnesses to the collision and anyone who saw the man [who died in the collision] prior to the incident to come forward."

"Anyone with information should contact GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0161 856 4741 quoting incident number 2713 of 16/08/19 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111."
