Man who covered Tommy Robinson with milkshake insists drink 'slipped' out of his hand

A man who coated Tommy Robinson in a milkshake claims the drink 'slipped' out of his hand.

Robinson, who is running as an independent in a bid to become an MEP for the North West , was hit with the milkshake during a walkabout in Warrington.

This was the second time in two days Robinson has been attacked with a drink as he campaigns for the European elections.

Videos posted to social media showed Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, arguing with a man who then appeared to hit the drink against his head.

It appears Robinson responded by throwing punches at the man before they were separated.

The Mirror quoted a man named Danny who claimed to have been responsible for throwing the milkshake.

"I had no intention of doing anything or reacting in any way. But he kept talking.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said yesterday: "We are aware of an allegation of assault made following an incident in Bridge Street in Warrington this afternoon.

"We are looking into the circumstances."

The force said they had given Robinson advice but denied claims on social media that he had been given a police escort.

A separate video showed Robinson, 36, attacked with a milkshake in Bury, Greater Manchester, on Wednesday.
