Man who 'could not take own life' fatally stabs another

NAGOYA -- A 22-year-old man was arrested initially on suspicion of attempted murder in Nagoya late Thursday, according to the Aichi Prefectural Police. The suspect was quoted by the police as saying, "I stabbed [him] because I was not able to take my own life and was so frustrated." Later, the 35-year-old man who was stabbed died from a loss of blood. The police department changed the charge against the suspect to murder.

The police received an emergency call from a person in a building where an internet cafe and other shops are located in Naka Ward, Nagoya, at around 8:25 p.m. The person said that two people were struggling with one another with some kind of knife. According to the police, the suspect repeatedly stabbed the other man in his head and chest in an aisle of the internet cafe, which is on the ninth floor of the building. The victim was taken to the hospital, but died shortly afterward.

The police arrested the suspect, who was near the victim and had a knife with a 15-centimeter blade. His address is unknown. It is said that the victim was suddenly attacked, and had never met the suspect.
