A man who says he ‘can talk for England’ is offering to keep people company during the coronavirus crisis.
People have been told to stay at home, cancel unnecessary trips and avoid large gatherings by Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
For many – particularly the elderly – this means long, lonely days for what may be months until the crisis is under control.
But Samuel Dwyer, who lives in Lincolnshire, says he will step in to keep people company in their time of need and chat with them on the phone whenever they want.
The 26-year-old told Lincolnshire Live : “I was thinking there are a lot of elderly people around who might not have anyone to speak to.
“I am on my own, I’ve got my dogs and I’m looking after a friend’s ferret and will be getting a house rabbit soon.
“I’m quite lonely myself, but there a lot of people out there who do not have long left and I thought maybe I could help them.”
He made the offer on Facebook where he received widespread support for his selflessness.
Samuel, who is a vulnerable person himself because of a weakened immune system caused by having a mechanical heart valve, said anyone can get in touch.
He said: “If there is anyone out there lonely who has no one to talk to, get in touch.”
You can get in contact with Samuel but messaging his Facebook profile.
