Man whispers to little girl she's 'his best friend' after hacking into smart camera in her room

Shocking footage shows the moment a little girl spoke to a hacker in her bedroom.

In a segment on This Morning, Holly and Phil were joined by an expert to discuss whether our smart products are "spying" on us.

The eerie footage was played to viewers and shows a little girl standing in her bedroom as a voice can be heard, telling her she can "do what she wants", while suggesting she "mess up her room".

Startled, the little girl asks: "Who is that?"

The hacker tells her it's her "best friend".

The security camera was hacked by the man after the young girl's parents used the password the device came with.

Speaking on This Morning, expert Alice encouraged those who have a Sky router to change their password and the name of the device to make it harder for hackers to gain access.

Host Phil said: "A lot of them come with quite complicated passwords."

Alice said it was always worth making edits, before moving on to popular smart gadgets like Alexa.

She said: "Let me have a look at Alexa and Google... are they listening? Yes, they are."

Phil cut in to add: "Mine is turned off at the wall when I don't use it... I don't trust it."

A Subject Access Request allows owners of Alexa and Google devices to see the transcriptions of their "conversations" with smart product users.

Alice said: "You have to take responsibility for it."
