Man seen 'waving samurai sword' in Walkden town centre

A man has been arrested after he was allegedly spotted on CCTV waving a samurai sword in the centre of Walkden, police said.

Police were called to the town centre after being alerted to the incident by a CCTV operator.

Several units attended and blocked in the suspect's vehicle before safely seizing the weapon and arresting the man in question.

GMP Salford said on Twitter in the early hours of Wednesday morning: “CCTV operator saw a male waving a Samurai Sword at Walden Town Centre this evening.

“Police were called, and #CReliefXM of #GMPTransportUnit attended en-masse, blocking in the subject vehicle and safely seizing the knife, arresting the male in question.

“All in a day's work.”
