Man wanted over sexual assault of teenage girl taken down by police at hostel he'd been hiding out in as a cleaner

This is the moment detectives take down a wanted man in Liverpool after he attempted to evade police in Bermuda.

The Metropolitan Police Extradition team were sent to a city centre hostel, where they believed the high-risk offender was an employee.

Malik Zuill was wanted in Bermuda for the sexual assault and grooming of a 13-year-old girl in December 2015.

DS Dean Coyle said: "We turned up this morning and we found out that he is at his place of work, he's actually arrived early.

"We're just trying to find out what part of the building he is in now".

The manager of the hostel agreed to help them locate and identify their target, leading DS Coyle and his team of detectives through the building to track him down.

DS Coyle said: "Some employers are more helpful than others, they were more than helpful on the day as they couldn't believe that they had employed somebody who was wanted for serious offences abroad.

"And they wouldn't have known that but they are occasions when we speak to employers and they're as shocked as the person is once we actually arrest them."

The detectives manage to find the suspected fugitive, who is stunned to hear that an extradition request has been sent from Bermuda to the UK.

However, Zuill is unhappy about being arrested at his workplace and appears to become aggressive towards the detectives.

But DS Coyle is having none of it, and puts Zuill in handcuffs whilst still on the premises.

He said: "I think he was very surprised to be arrested, I get the impression that he didn't think this was going to come back to haunt him several years later."

Police confirmed that Zuill was extradited to Bermuda in April 2019.
