Man wanted in connection with murder investigation arrested in Scotland after wife's death

A man wanted in connection with a murder investigation has been arrested in Scotland.

Mark Barrott, 54, has been detained by officers after his wife was found dead in Leeds on Sunday.

Barrott was arrested at around 4.30am today in Elgin in connection with Eileen Barrott's death.

The 50-year-old's body was found in the couple's home in Naburn Fold, Whinmoor.

Barrott was seen travelling to Edinburgh by train after the death before making his way to Aberdeen and Moray.

Officers will now transport Barrott back to West Yorkshire to be interviewed by detectives from the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team.

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Vanessa Rolfe said: “We would like to thank all the members of the public who contacted us with information, and also our colleagues in Police Scotland for their assistance and support with this investigation.”
