Man wanted for attempted murder after Coatbridge stabbing leaves man in hospital

Coatbridge police are appealing for information after a man was left with near fatal injuries due to a stabbing in the early hours of this morning.

A 27-year-old man was knifed at around 12.40am after becoming involved in an argument with a man on Mitchell Street.

The injured man then made his way to Craigend Drive where he contacted a family member who in turn called an ambulance.

He was taken by ambulance to Monklands and District General Hospital initially and has since been transferred to the Golden Jubilee Hospital where he is currently being treated for his injuries.

Detective Sergeant Clare Cassidy at Coatbridge CID said: "This attack has left a young man in a very serious condition that requires surgery and could quite easily have had fatal consequences.

“The suspect is described as being a white male who was dressed in shorts, a black jumper and black T-shirt.

“It is also believed that there was a man and woman in the area at the time and I urge them to come forward immediately as they may be able to provide vital information that could assist our inquiry.

"The woman is described as being in her mid 30’s with brown hair and the man is described as wearing a black hat.  

“Anyone who has any information regarding the incident is asked to contact police at Coatbridge via telephone number 101 quoting incident number 0170 of 9 July 2019. “
