Chicago police are searching for a man who tried to lure a girl Monday in Logan Square on the Northwest Side.

About 2:50 p.m., the girl was walking near the area of Wellington Avenue and Kimball Avenue when she noticed a man in his 50s walking behind her, Chicago police said. The man then approached the girl in the 3000 block of North Kimball Avenue and offered her toys, asking her in Spanish if she would go back to his residence with him.

The girl ran to safety, police said.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic man standing about 5 feet, 5 inches with a medium build, gray hair and a short, gray beard, police said. He was wearing a red t-shirt with a logo and dark pants at the time of the incident.

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call Area North detectives at 312-744-8266.
