Authorities are looking for a man who tried to rob a Family Dollar store at knifepoint Saturday in west suburban Montgomery.
At 5:21 p.m., the suspect entered the store at 1337 Douglas Ave. and walked around for a few minutes before approaching the register, pulling out a knife and demanding that the clerk open the store’s safe, according to a statement from Montgomery police.
When his demand was denied, he tried unsuccessfully to open the cash drawer before running out of the store and heading east through the parking lot on foot, police said. No injuries were reported.
Police released a surveillance photo of the suspect and are asking anyone with information to call Detective Sgt. Jeff Ricedorf at 331-212-9058. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 630-892-1000.
