Man wanted by GMP arrested at Teesside Airport moments before flight left for Alicante

A man wanted by police in Greater Manchester was arrested at Teesside Airport on suspicion of breaching bail conditions - moments before a flight left for Alicante.

Officers from Durham Constabulary arrested the 32-year-old last night, Monday June 14, on behalf of Greater Manchester Police (GMP).

Several police officers were seen standing near to a plane on the runway at the airport at around 7pm.

This morning, a spokesperson for the North-East force confirmed the arrest was made on behalf of officers in Greater Manchester.

"At 6pm yesterday, June 14, officers from Durham Constabulary attended Teesside International Airport where they arrested a 32-year-old man on suspicion of breaching his bail conditions," the spokesperson said.

"The arrest was carried out on behalf of Greater Manchester Police, who will now progress the investigation."

Despite the arrest, no delays were caused.

A spokesperson for Teesside Airport said: “Earlier this evening a passenger was arrested prior to the Alicante flight departing.

"There was no delay to airport operations and the aircraft left on time.

"This is now a police matter and we won’t be commenting further.”

Officers from GMP will now handle the investigation.
