Police are searching for a man who tried to break into a family’s home Sunday evening in west suburban Batavia.

Officers were dispatched about 6:30 p.m. to the 1000 block of Lorlyn Circle for a call of someone trying to enter an open window into a child’s bedroom, Batavia police said in a statement.

The callers told officers they saw someone walking back and forth by their child’s bedroom window and then try to pull a screen off the window, police said. The person went to another window and attempted to remove another screen before walking away.

The suspect was last seen driving off in a red Toyota 4-door vehicle, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Batavia police at 630-454-2500.
