Man wanted after stabbing in Cardiff that left victim critically ill

A man is in a critical condition after reports of a stabbing in Cardiff.

South Wales Police said a 47-year-old man is in a "critical but stable" condition after the incident in Cathays on Sunday.

Officers were called to reports of stabbing at a house on Donald Street at around 7am.

Armed police were called to a major road in the capital on Sunday during an investigation into the assault.

Police believe the victim and the suspect are known to each other.

Detectives now want to speak to Jordon Hennessey, 21, in connection with the assault.

On Wednesday police said the 47-year-old man remains at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff.

One lane of the A48M Eastern Avenue was closed at around 3.30pm on Sunday near the St Mellons junction.

Police said officers executed a number of arrest enquiries regarding a man wanted in connection with an assault which was reported earlier in the day in the Roath area.

A spokesman said firearms officers were sent as a precaution "in support of officers to ensure their safety".
