Police are looking for a man after a car fled officers at 100mph in a 30mph zone in east London.

Officers indicated for the driver of a black Audi A1 to pull over in Canning Town, but the car sped off to the east through red lights.

The pursuit reached 100mph, officers said, with the driver going against the flow of traffic.

Officers eventually gave up on the high-speed chase as the risk to the public was too high, they added.

The Audi was later found abandoned in nearby Renfrew Close, in the Beckton neighbourhood.

Police are looking for Skye Anderson-King, 30, in connection with the dangerous incident.

Detective Superintendent Andy Cox, of the Roads and Transport Policing Command, said: “We urgently wish to speak with Skye Anderson-King in relation to an incident in which a driver of a Black Audi S1 failed to stop for police.

“The vehicle reached speeds of 100mph in a 30mph zone at a time when pedestrians and cyclists were present.

“Such driving puts the public at considerable risk and incidents like this are taken very seriously.”

Anyone who has any information on the whereabouts of Mr Anderson-King is asked to contact MetCC on 101 or tweet @MetCC.

Alternatively, they can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or visit online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org and quote reference CAD 7079/18JUN20.
