Man wanders into McDonald's with serious injuries after trio viciously attack him...he was found unconscious in street hours later

Two men have been arrested after a man was found unconscious hours following a vicious attack.

The 47-year-old victim was found blacked-out on Whitworth Street, in the city centre, during the early hours of Sunday, November 10.

It has been established the man was assaulted by three men, on Chepstow Street, the evening before at around 9.30pm.

The trio fled from the scene following the attack.

Police say the victim walked into a McDonald's on Oxford Road at 9.40pm and people helped treat his wounds in the restaurant.

The following morning, at around 1am, he was found collapsed on the street by a passer-by who alerted the emergency services.

Police said the man was seriously injured.

Two men, aged 30 and 35, have been arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault and remain in custody for questioning.

Detective Inspector Mark Astbury, of GMP’s City of Manchester Division, said: “This was a vicious attack which has left a man suffering from serious injuries.

“This kind of violence has no place on our streets, and it will not be tolerated.

“While we have two men in custody, our enquiries are very much ongoing and I would implore anyone who has any information that may assist our enquiries to please get in touch with officers.”

Anybody with information should contact police on 0161 856 4409 quoting incident number 129 of 10/11/2019, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
