Man Utd youth player takes swipe at team-mate on Instagram after Chelsea post

Manchester United under 23s defender Teden Mengi made a dig at teammate Hannibal Mejbri on Instagram following the Red Devils ' 6-1 defeat to Chelsea.

Shortly after the thrashing in Premier League 2, Mejbri posted a picture of himself alongside Blues youngster Pierre Ekwah on Instagram.

This seemed to provoke the anger of Mengi, who replied to the post with a critical comment.

Both defender Mengi and midfielder Mejbri started the game against Chelsea with United conceding twice within the first two minutes as they suffered a hammering in the capital.

Marcel Lewis and Faustino Anjorin both scored twice, with Jude Soonsup-Bell and Charlie Brown also getting on the scoresheet as Chelsea maintained their lead at the top of PL2's Division 1.

Young prospect Joe Hugill netted a late consolation for United's development side, who sit ninth in the 13-team table, with Mejbri's post drawing the ire of teammate Mengi.

Mejbri's post was one of him seemingly sharing a joke with Chelsea player Ekwah, one of his France U16 teammates.

But this drew scathing criticism from Mengi, who replied: "The reason why we lost, too many friends and not enough enemies."

Mejbri launched a defence of his post, and refused to take sole blame for the defeat.

He replied to Mengi's comment: "It's good that you said WE", before Mengi wrote: "It's a team sport not an individual one."

Mejbri was not the only United player to feel Mengi's anger. Aliou Traore, who is currently on loan at SM Caen, replied to Mengi's initial comment with crying laughing emojis to which England youth international Mengi replied with an angry face emoji.

United's youngsters will not have a chance to put the heavy defeat to the Blues behind them until the middle of January, when they travel to Leicester, who are themselves struggling in the league.
