Man Utd youngster Tahith Chong 'closes in on Juventus transfer'

Juventus are reportedly edging closer to confirming the capture of Manchester United winger Tahith Chong on a free transfer.

Chong's contract with United expires in June, and he is currently free to talk to clubs outside of the United Kingdom.

Juventus are thought to be showing the greatest interest in the 20-year-old, and according to Italian outlet Tuttosport a deal for the player to move to Turin at the end of the season is almost complete.

United remain keen to keep Chong at the club, but he is thought to have grown frustrated with his lack of playing time at Old Trafford, and is set to sign a pre-contract deal with the Serie A champions this month.

He has only made two Premier League appearances all season and has mainly been restricted to playing time in the Carabao Cup and Europa League.

If they do complete a deal for Chong, Juventus could then turn their attentions to young Tottenham prospect Troy Parrott.

The 17-year-old is touted to be the next Harry Kane, and made his senior debut in the side's loss to Colchester in the Carabao Cup in September.

He also made his debut for the Republic of Ireland in a friendly match against New Zealand in November, providing an assist in the 3-1 victory.

Spurs, however, are said to be lining up a new long-term contract for the striker, and it remains to be seen whether he would be tempted by a move to Turin or whether he would prefer to remain in north London.

Parrott may also be given more chances for first-team football due to Kane's long-term injury, and it will be interesting to see whether his manager Jose Mourinho opts to give him a chance in Spurs' FA Cup replay against Middlesbrough on Tuesday.
