Man Utd youngster rejected summer transfer to fight for Old Trafford place

Manchester United youngster Tahith Chong rejected the chance to leave on loan this summer.

Chong, 19, made his debut last season and also played a key role in the Champions League victory over Paris Saint-Germain.

The teenager ended the season with four appearances in all competitions and was a regular under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in pre-season.

But he has not made the squad for United's first two Premier League matches of the season.

Reports in Chong's native Holland suggest he was offered the chance to return to his homeland this summer.

PSV and Feyenoord both enquired about taking Chong on loan, but he made it clear he wants to stay and fight for his place at Old Trafford, reports Voetbal Internatonal.

And United could even offer Chong a new long-term deal to keep him at the club.

His agent Erkan Alkan says the teenager has no plans to leave United.

Tahith does not want to be loaned, but wants to fight for his chance at Manchester United ," Alkan said.

"Top clubs from the Bundesliga and La Liga also have him in sight.

"He has done a strong preparation [for the season], in which he has proven to be one of the better attackers of United."

Chong will hope to break into Solskjaer's first-team plans this season with fellow United youngster Mason Greenwood appearing as a substitute in both matches so far.
