Man Utd XI vs Wolves: Confirmed team news, predicted lineup and latest injuries for FA Cup clash

Sergio Romero will replace David de Gea for Manchester United’s FA Cup third-round tie against Wolves.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed the Argentina international will be handed a rare start at Molineux and revealed he has concerns over a number of players.

United are already severely depleted by injuries to Scott McTominay and Paul Pogba, while Marcos Rojo and Axel Tuanzebe are still to return to fitness.

On top of that, other members of Solskjaer’s squad are suffering with colds, meaning United will have to assess them on Saturday morning.

Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial were both sent home shortly after turning up for training on Friday morning to suggest they are doubts for the game.

“Paul is out, Axel, Eric (Bailly) and Tim (Fosu-Mensah) are getting closer, but won’t be ready for this,” said Solskjaer. “Rojo won’t be ready for this.

"There are a couple of illnesses and colds, which is normal for this time, so I’ll have to see who wakes up tomorrow and feels okay.

“Sergio will play tomorrow because he’s always done well when called upon.”

Wolves knocked United out of the FA Cup at the quarter-final stage last season and Solskjaer is yet to beat Nuno Espirito Santo in three meetings since taking over at Old Trafford.

On Friday he bemoaned United’s luck in the competition, with the club having drawn plenty of top-flight opponents over the past two seasons.

"Arsenal, Chelsea, Wolves away and Wolves away (again). They’re not going to make it easy for us," Solskjaer said.

"It’s the fourth time there already in my time at Molineux and we haven’t won there. Liverpool lost there last season, City recently. We’ve got to play well, got to perform and go there positive because we want a reaction after a defeat at Arsenal.

“Everybody said that was a bad, bad performance, but it was a good game between good teams.”
