Man Utd wonderkid Hannibal signs long-term deal with Red Devils in huge boost

Manchester United youngster Hannibal Mejbri has signed a new long-term deal at the club.

The 18-year-old moved to Old Trafford from Monaco in 2019 and has been a regular for the U23s.

Hannibal has scored four goals and registered seven assists for Neil Wood's side, where he has played alongside new boy Amad.

United's pathway into the first team means the midfielder is likely to be on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's radar.

The youngster suffered a shoulder injury recently which has hampered his development.

Solskjaer was ready to introduce him into the first team picture, but has kept the door open as he recovers.

He told MUTV last month: “Hannibal unfortunately injured his shoulder in the reserves so he’ll be out for a few weeks.

"He was just on his way into the squad and training with us but that’s football. He’ll come back stronger, I am sure, and he knows he’s not far away.”

United completed a deal which could be worth up to £8.5m for the Paris-born star when he was just 16.

The Red Devils have been keen to consolidate their future prospects with Shola Shoretire recently penning his first professional deal.

"The young kids, we've moved Shola up with us, Hannibal will join us and we'll keep them with us for a while," said the United boss.

"It's the next step in their development, we've got to take the hit that when they play for the reserves they have to travel by themselves.

"It's a nice step for them, they've done really well."

Solskjaer has given youth a chance throughout his tenure which suggests Hannibal's debut may not be far away.
