Manchester United legend Paul Scholes labelled his former side "awful", after they needed a late minute winner to topple Swiss outfit Young Boys and book their place in the knockout stages of the Champions League.
Jose Mourinho's side had not scored at home in the Champions League this season, and that record looked set to stay intact, until Marouane Fellaini's stoppage time strike earned three points against the comparative minnows.
The win, coupled with Valencia's loss against Juventus, secures United's passage into the last 16 with a game to spare, but Scholes was less than impressed.
"I thought they were awful tonight," he said on BT Sport. "I thought they were terrible, second half especially.
"I think if they play against a half decent team there, they get beat tonight.
"They huffed and puffed and the quality was really lacking in every area of the pitch.
"I feel really sorry for Young Boys, I thought they were excellent second half and if they had a little bit of quality about them, they win that game."
