Man Utd 'weigh up approach' for second Juventus star during Paulo Dybala talks

Manchester United are reportedly weighing up a move for Juventus defender Daniele Rugani.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is desperate to bring in a new central defender this summer with Harry Maguire at the top of his wishlist.

United have so far been frustrated in their pursuit of Maguire and will not go above £70m, despite Leicester wanting closer to £90m.

United's need for a new defender intensified this week when it was confirmed Eric Bailly would be out for up to five months.

And it appears Solskjaer is now on the lookout for another new addition, alongside England international Maguire.

Gazzetta dello Sport reports United could turn their attention to 25-year-old Rugani to solve their defensive woes.

Arsenal have been keeping tabs on Rugani and reportedly launched a two-year loan bid for the defender earlier this summer.

United remain in talks with Juventus over a deal for Paulo Dybala and could use those negotiations to discuss a possible move to take Rugani to Old Trafford.

United are yet to convince Dybala that his future lies at Old Trafford.

The Argentine is set to hold further talks with Juventus boss Maurizio Sarri today to discuss his future and his first-team prospects.

Romelu Lukaku is set to move in the opposite direction if the transfer can be agreed but the switch will hinge on Dybala.

Speaking after the win over Kristiansunds, Solskjaer said: "I’m not here to talk about any rumours or speculation about other team’s players,” said Solskjaer.

“But of course we’re working on one or two cases, as I’ve said before. Hopefully we can announce a fresh face or two.”
