Manchester United and Manchester City collide in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final this evening.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side looked to have turned a corner the last time they stood toe-to-toe with their neighbours, serving up perhaps the most impressive win of the Norwegian’s reign in December when they left the Etihad Stadium with a 2-1 win.
It is the big games where we have consistently seen the best of United but they will have to do it over two legs to halt City’s dominance of this competition.
City have won the League Cup in its various guises in four of the last six years, including the last two.
With the Premier League title now out of reach, their hunt for silverware elsewhere will have only intensified.
