Man Utd v Liverpool kick-off delayed after fans storm Old Trafford as part of anti-Glazer protest

Manchester United v Liverpool's kick-off has been pushed back due to fan protests outside Old Trafford and the home team's hotel.

Thousands of fans staged a protest outside Old Trafford on Sunday ahead of the scheduled 4.30pm kick-off, with some fans gaining entry to the ground and storming onto the pitch.

It's all part of a protest against the club's Glazer owners in the wake of the failed breakaway European Super League in April.

Fans have also been airing their discontent outside The Lowry Hotel in Manchester, where the home side's players have been waiting to depart from to head to their game.

Sky Sports' Geoff Shreeves said: "We’ve just been told by the Premier League that kick-off will be delayed. It will not kick-off at 4.30pm this afternoon, as yet, we do not have the revised kick-off time either.

"I’ve just received the news that the players are still currently locked in their hotel rooms, or certainly away in their hotel rooms, their safety is paramount."

More than 1,000 fans had protested after the ESL news four days after United withdrew from it, some holding banners describing the Glazers as "greedy" and "selfish".
