Man Utd urged to make move for Gareth Bale after latest Real Madrid snub

Gareth Bale can ‘make the difference’ at Manchester United and help Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reinvigorate his side, according to his former manager Harry Redknapp.

Bale looks to be heading for the exit at Real Madrid this summer after Zinedine Zidane kept him on the bench for Madrid’s final game of the season.

After the 2-0 defeat to Real Betis yesterday, Bale decided not to acknowledge the Madrid fans, and instead headed straight for the tunnel.

On Sunday, ahead of the Betis game, Zidane admitted that Bale was a player of the past and not the future.

Zidane said: "He [Bale] has won a lot here but we live for the present and the future.

"We will not forget the past but we have to live for the day to day."

But Redknapp - Bale’s manager at Tottenham during the Welshman’s astronomical rise - believes he has the ability to breathe life into Manchester United ’s side.

“Whoever signs him will be signing a fantastic player,” Redknapp told Sportsmail. “Any club he can go to he can make a difference - he can turn any club around.

“He would be a great signing for anyone - Man United could do with Gareth Bale.

“There's not a club in the country where he wouldn't make a massive impact. I think he's an incredible talent.

“Anybody who gets Gareth Bale is going to lift them. If it's Spurs, Man United, whoever it is, it would be an amazing signing for them.”

United have long been linked to a move for Bale and with departures on the cards - £500,000-a-week Alexis Sanchez is close to leaving the club - there could be space on the wage bill to make a move for the Welsh international.

And Solskjaer, following his side’s poor end to the season, is looking to revitalise his beleaguered Manchester United squad.
