Man Utd urged to make four summer transfers if they want to end title drought

Manchester United have been urged to sign four players this summer - and keep Paul Pogba - if they want to challenge for the Premier League title next season.

United haven't won the title since legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013, and have failed to qualify for the Champions League in three of the past four seasons.

But current manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is showing signs of turning United's fortunes around.

The fourth man to be appointed to the hotseat since Ferguson retired, Solskjaer has guided his team to fifth in the Premier League, three points behind fourth-placed Chelsea .

Even if United fail to catch fourth-placed Chelsea, fifth place will be enough for them to return to Europe's top table next season if Manchester City's two-year ban from European football is upheld by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

And speaking after United's 3-0 win over Derby County in Thursday's FA Cup clash, pundit Robbie Savage highlighted the players Solskjaer must sign to turn his team into domestic and European contenders again.

He also urged United to keep hold of Pogba , who has been at the centre of transfer speculation since last summer.

Savage said if United qualify for the Champions League with the riches the competition brings, they should sign Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly, Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho, Aston Villa attacking midfielder Jack Grealish and Wolves striker Raul Jimenez.

"It depends about Champions League football but just say you try and get some of these players which will be difficult," Savage told BT Sport.

"If you can generate £150m from selling players and they can get £200m investment then that's £350m.

"Koulibaly would be a very good signing. If you an have Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, Koulibaly, Shaw - that's good.

"Keep Pogba - I would - lets say you've got McTominay and Bruno Fernandes. Sancho, Rashford and then Grealish as a 10 or Jimenez from Wolves.

"That is four players and if you name that team, Champions League football dependent, if I was a Man Utd owner I would think that team challenges for the title."
