Man Utd transfer target Thomas Meunier admits desire to move to Premier League

Manchester United have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain star Thomas Meunier.

The Belgian right-back has been linked with a summer move to Old Trafford as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer prepares for a rebuilding job.

He has now admitted he would love a move to the Premier League despite interest from elsewhere after hinting he is open to leaving the French capital in the summer.

Talks over a new contract at the Parc des Princes have stalled after a frustrating year, with the Red Devils considering a bid with his current contract due to expire in 2020.

Three things Ole Gunnar Solskjaer told Man Utd players during dressing down

Meunier was asked by L'Avenir about interest from English clubs and stated: "Yes, but not only there. It comes from everywhere. Even from China or the Middle East.

Pressed on if he is interested in a Premier League switch, he replied: "I never hid it."

Meunier has had an injury-plagued year limiting him to 20 Ligue 1 appearances - and he admits he has been frustrated by the situation.

"The discussions with management are hanging around a bit," he added.

"I can understand because of the deadlines of the team that my personal case was put in the fridge, but since then nothing has happened, the message seems clear enough.

Man Utd identify David de Gea replacement - but there's a huge asking price

"It would annoy me a little if it ends like that, without having the opportunity to finish beautifully.

"It's true, I had a rough season, but a title is still a title and I am very happy.

"You know, even if I only took part in four or five matches in 2019, my stats, offensive and defensive, are among the best in the PSG defence alongside Bernat's.

"Last year, although I had played less than during my first season in France , I felt I had progressed. Here, it's the same."
