Four ‘big clubs’ have met Lille’s asking price for Manchester United target Nicolas Pepe, the club’s president has confirmed.
United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has expressed an interest in the 24-year-old striker as a replacement for Romelu Lukaku, should he join Inter Milan this summer.
While it has been suggested that United are among those four, Standard Sport understands that no offer has been submitted with the club focussed on securing deals for Harry Maguire and Sean Longstaff.
Despite expressing interest, it’s believed United don’t intend to follow up with a formal offer.
Napoli are one of the four to have met the Ligue 1 side’s asking price of €80million (£71.6m), according to president Gerard Lopez.
Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked with a move for Pepe, who scored 22 league goals last season and was promised a move away during this window.
“Last year we asked Pepe to stay with the promise that we would sell in this transfer window,” Lopez told Tuttosport.
“We received offers that satisfy us economically from four big clubs.
“[Napoli chairman Aurelio] De Laurentiis has satisfied our request for €80m. Now it is up to the player to decide where he wants to go.
“He must make that decision based on the offers that his agents have received from the four clubs.
“On Monday, Pepe will return from vacation and I believe that by the middle of the week he will have made a decision.”
