Man Utd transfer target Matthijs de Ligt 'agrees five-year deal' with new club

Holland international Matthijs de Ligt has agreed a five-year deal with Juventus ahead of a possible transfer from Ajax, according to reports.

The wonderkid had been linked with a switch to Manchester United, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain this summer but is reportedly ready to sign for the Old Lady.

The centre-back's agent Mino Raiola told Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf that De Ligt had finally agreed a contract with the club, worth around £8million over five years.

Raiola has now urged Ajax to agree on a fee with Juventus to get the transfer over the line.

"Agreements have been made with Matthijs and it is up to Ajax how to deal with this," Raiola told De Telegraaf.

Ajax have reportedly rejected Juventus' opening transfer bid, which was around £45million, but both De Ligt and Raiola are remaining calm that the deal will take place.

So much so that the agent stressed De Ligt would definitely report for pre-season training with Ajax and not attempt to force through his exit.

Eredivisie champions Ajax return to training next Monday, but Juventus are confident they can agree on a fee with Ajax before then.

The Turin giants are looking to fly the Dutchman out to Italy as soon as Wednesday to enable him to complete his medical.
