Man Utd transfer round-up: Jesse Lingard set for exit as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gets budget blow

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may only be making tentative plans for the January transfer window given the present speculation regarding his future.

Solskjaer has overseen an awful run of form which has seen United win just one of their last six Premier League games.

They've also been condemned to two humiliating derby defeats at the hands of bitter rivals Liverpool and Manchester City in as many weeks.

The two-week international break has handed the 48-year-old a brief reprieve - and he'll be hoping that a kind run of festive fixtures and a productive transfer window will be able to provide him with some long-term breathing space heading into 2022.

With January on the horizon, Mirror Football takes a look at all the latest transfer news from around Old Trafford...

Lingard set for cut-price exit

Have Your Say! Should Man Utd sell Jesse Lingard in January? Let us know in the comments

Just months after Solskjaer insisted Jesse Lingard would be staying at Old Trafford, the 28-year-old is set for a cut-price exit in the New Year according to reports.

The Sun claims that Lingard is set to link up once again with West Ham in a bargain £10million deal.

Lingard enjoyed a fruitful six-month stint in east London last year, where he netted nine goals in 16 games for the Hammers.

Although a permanent deal failed to materialise in the summer, West Ham are now set to swoop again for Lingard, who will have just six months left on his United deal in January.

And Lingard's contract situation means that United are set to miss out on up to £15m by selling the winger when the transfer window reopens. United chiefs valued the ace at £25m in the summer.

Despite Solskjaer's comments praising him just last month, and netting important goals during his limited minutes on the pitch, Lingard has struggled to get a look in after returning to Manchester in red-hot form.

Henderson set for loan

United academy graduate Dean Henderson looks set to head out on a long-term loan after falling behind David de Gea once again in the Old Trafford pecking order.

Despite featuring a number of times for United last season, Henderson has failed to dislodge de Gea this term - leaving the 24-year-old frustrated.

And according to The Sun, United chiefs are keen on sanctioning a long-term temporary exit for Henderson in order to facilitate his desire for first team football.

The England international could be set for an 18-month move, with United reportedly keen to secure Henderson a sustained spell of guaranteed action rather than a short stint somewhere.

Newcastle are believed to be one of the sides who would be interested in making a move for Henderson; who is still seen as a potential number one by Solskjaer and the United hierarchy, who have no intention of sanctioning a permanent exit.

The hits just seem to keep on coming for Solskjaer, who has been told that he won't be able to spend his way out of trouble in the New Year.

United's form has nosedived under the Norwegian over the past couple of months, despite Solskjaer overseeing a £126million summer spending spree.

Their dismal run of results has led to constant speculation over his future at Old Trafford.

But if he had any hopes of being able to bolster his squad in January to arrest United's slide down the table, then they've been dashed.

The club's American owners, the Glazer family, believe that sanctioning another splurge in the New Year isn't going to solve the issues under Solskjaer.

It's not hard to see why they've adopted this stance when you consider the issues that have plagued Solskjaer's summer signings.

Cristiano Ronaldo may be the club's leading scorer but those goals have come at a cost, with a host of tactical issues emerging due to the Portuguese veteran's role upfront.

Raphael Varane has been hampered by injury problems, whilst Solskjaer's biggest signing, £73m Jadon Sancho, has struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League and doesn't seem to fit into Solskjaer's new 3-4-2-1 approach.
