Man Utd transfer round-up: Jadon Sancho latest as ex-Dortmund team-mate has United trial

Manchester United confirmed the signing of Dutch international Donny van de Beek earlier this week oin a £40million deal.

Van de Beek becomes United’s first major incoming of the window, after speculation for most of the summer that Jadon Sancho would be the Red Devils’ big-money signing.

But the Red Devils remain interested in a host of players across Europe, and boss Ole Gunnar Solskjær hopes to spend further in this autumnal transfer window.

Here is the latest Manchester United transfer round-up.

Thiago coy on potential move

Bayern Munich playmaker Thiago Alcântara has remained tight-lipped over a potential move this transfer window, declaring he is “happy” at the Bundesliga and Champions League winners.

The Spaniard could well be playing matters down, as Bayern head coach Hansi Flick said this week “I assume he will leave” amidst links to Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City, according to BuliNews.com.

Having recently added Donny van de Beek to their ranks, United could struggle to squeeze the Dutchman, plus Thiago, Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes into the same midfield this season.

However, utilising the quartet on a rotational basis could help the club re-establish themselves as title hopefuls.

Bayern’s asking price for Thiago stands at a reported £27m, which appears to have deterred Liverpool’s advances for the 29-year-old.

United signalled their intent earlier in the window with their willingness to offer a large sum for Jadon Sancho, but it may be Thiago who proves to be their Bundesliga acquisition, as the two-time Champions League winner remains likely to depart the Allianz Arena.

Ex-Dortmund winger on trial with United

German winger Reda Khadra is currently on trial with Manchester United following his departure from Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund, according to MailOnline.

The 19-year-old became a free agent at the end of last season having failed to make a senior appearance for Dortmund, but appears to have landed on his feet with a trial at United.

Khadra featured in the UEFA Youth League last season, as well as being a regular for Dortmund’s under-19 side, for whom he finished the season strongly.

Khadra has been capped at under-18 level for Germany but also holds Lebanese citizenship.

It is likely he would be brought into the under-23 setup at United, but he will be unable to feature in their final friendly of the season against Doncaster Rovers after failing to be registered in time.

United still confident on Sancho deal

Having been rebuffed earlier this summer, Manchester United remain confident of the prospect of bringing in Jadon Sancho in a bumper transfer this year.

According to Sky Sports, United are restructuring their deal to sign the England international, arranging his agent fees – which were a sticking point – before renegotiating with Borussia Dortmund.

Sancho’s representatives were reportedly demanding "outrageous" sums for the player’s wages and fees paid to his intermediaries, which led to the deal falling through prior to Dortmund’s August 10 deadline.

Since then, Sancho has appeared in Dortmund’s pre-season friendly schedule, scoring against FK Austria Wien and MSV Duisburg.
