Man Utd transfer round-up: Goalkeeper situation clearer after opening Onana pursuit

Manchester United finally got their first signing of the summer over the line when Mason Mount was confirmed following his £60million move from Chelsea.

Mount, 24, has signed a five-year contract at Old Trafford and is set to start a mini transfer spending spree ahead of the new Premier League campaign. Ten Hag is ready to sign a new goalkeeper with David de Gea now out of contract - and Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana is their top priority for that position.

As for other areas, United are also likely to pursue signing another striker after Wout Weghorst returned to Burnley at the end of his six-month loan spell. Several forwards, such as Victor Osimhen and Harry Kane, have been linked with moves to the Red Devils this summer.

Here are the latest rumours to come out of Old Trafford.

United want to hold Henderson talks

United want to hold talks with Dean Henderson to gauge whether or not he wants to leave Old Trafford this summer.

According to the MEN, United are yet to make a concrete decision on the 25-year-old goalkeeper, who has previously made it known that he wants to depart. Henderson spent last season on loan at Nottingham Forest and impressed before suffering a season-ending injury in January.

It is thought Henderson is hoping to secure a move back to The City Ground on a permanent transfer. But United's current goalkeeper situation could dampen things, with David de Gea out of contract and the Red Devils' pursuit of Inter Milan stopper Andre Onana proving difficult.

Even if Henderson expresses a desire to leave, Ten Hag is "unlikely" to sanction his sale until the situation at Old Trafford is resolved.

United open Onana talks

United have opened talks with Inter Milan over a proposed move for their £50million-rated goalkeeper Andre Onana.

Ten Hag sees the Cameroon international, whom he managed at Ajax, as the ideal replacement for David de Gea, who is out of contract and no longer a United player. United sources have indicated that "preliminary discussions" over Onana have begun with Inter, with a view to a formal bid being launched in the coming days.

Although United have yet to submit an opening offer, there is understood to be a gap between their valuation of Onana and that of Inter. While Inter want around £50m for Onana, who faced Manchester City in last season's Champions League final, United believe his market value to be around £40m.

Although there is a £10m disparity in the valuations of both clubs, there is a belief a compromise can be struck and Onana, 27, can become United's new No.1 keeper.

McTominay swap deal

United midfielder Scott McTominay could be used in a cash-plus-player deal to land Moises Caicedo.

Brighton have shown an interest in McTominay, prompting discussions of a potential Old Trafford switch for Caicedo, in a deal which sees the Scotland international move in the opposite direction.

Caicedo has been linked with a summer move away from the south coast, with Chelsea thought to be leading the race for the £80m-rated star.

The Blues could even part-fund the move with the money they receive from United for Mount. The Mount move means United's own spending power is limited, with the deal eating into a transfer budget in the region of around £120m. However, as United look to get creative - particularly amid their quest to sign a new No.1 goalkeeper - one way around this is by including McTominay in a Caicedo deal.
