Manchester United are about to enter their first transfer window under the new regime.
Ralf Rangnick will have the first chance to make his make on his new squad - should he be afforded funds in January.
The Red Devils spent heavily in the summer with the marquee signings of Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho, plus the sensational return of Cristiano Ronaldo.
But it is still widely acknowledged that the squad is short of being able to compete for a Premier League title, with defensive midfield a specific area of weakness.
Here, Mirror Football rounds up the latest transfer gossip from Old Trafford.

Many sensed Erling Haaland may be leaving Borussia Dortmund in January after he appeared to wave goodbye to fans in the club's final home game of the year last week.
The Norwegian striking sensation is one of Europe's hottest prospects and United are one of many clubs said to be tracking him.
But Haaland's notorious super-agent Mino Raiola has quashed rumours of a January exit by denying a pre-agreement transfer and also suggested he could remain at Dortmund for another season.
"Haaland can wait for everyone," Raiola told NOS.
"We don’t have a pre-agreement with any club.
“We will look for the best option, and I also never ruled out another year at B. Dortmund."
Midfield target identified
United's deficiency in midfield is clear but they are reportedly making steps to rectify the area of concern.
According to Il Messaggero, via Sport Witness, United are 'lurking' over Sergej Milinkovic-Savic due to his uncertain future at Lazio.
The Serbian international, 26, has long been linked with a move to United as a possible long-term replacement for Paul Pogba.
And it is claimed in the report that the player's agent already has an agreement that his client can leave Lazio in June.
But United would face competition for Milinkovic-Savic's signature with Real Madrid and Juventus also credited with an interest.
Lingard going nowhere
Jesse Lingard is set to remain at Old Trafford until at least the end of the season, despite reports of a possible January move.
That's according to the Athletic, who claim Lingard is looking to impress new boss Rangnick and find his way into the German's plans.
Lingard has six months left on his current deal and has been linked with a move to West Ham and Newcastle.
But he looks set to fight for his place until at least the end of the campaign after limited opportunities so far.
