Man Utd transfer round-up: Erik ten Hag told £38m asking price amid new two-man shortlist

Manchester United have finally agreed a £60million transfer fee with Chelsea to sign Mason Mount after three bids were rejected.

The England international, 24, is expected to complete his move to Old Trafford in the coming days, with pre-season starting on Monday. Mount will be United's first signing of the summer transfer window... and Erik ten Hag will be hoping he's the first of many.

With the takeover saga looming over his head, Ten Hag has struggled to lure fresh talent to Old Trafford this summer. He still needs to find a long-term replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo after his exit in November, with Wout Weghorst not the answer.

But who is Ten Hag interested in signing? Here are the latest transfer rumours from the red half of Manchester.

Hojlund bid rejected

Atalanta have rejected a €35m (£30m) bid from United for Rasmus Hojlund, according to Corriere dello Sport. As relayed by Football Italia, Atalanta want at least €45m (£38.7m) for the 20-year-old striker, who only joined his current employers a year ago.

Hojlund is one of the most exciting youngsters in Europe after scoring six goals in his first six senior appearances for Denmark. He scored 10 goals and provided four assists during his debut season at Atalanta, with United's scouts believing the best is yet to come.

The Red Devils will need to act quickly if they are to land Hojlund, with Juventus also interested in the upcoming forward. "It [United] is a huge club, so I must have done something right if it’s rumoured they want me," Hojlund told Tipsbladet last month.

"We have to see what happens. As you see and hear, I imagine a lot could happen to quite a few strikers this summer, as many clubs are looking for a No.9. Something will definitely happen there, and then we’ll have to wait and see if I am included in it.

"I am very happy to be with Atalanta and we have qualified for Europe. I have found myself in a really good place here, so now we have to wait and see."

Van de Beek's exit route

AC Milan are interested in signing Donny van de Beek, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes. The Dutchman, 26, has struggled for minutes at Old Trafford since his £39m move from Ajax three years ago, playing just 60 games and spending time on loan at Everton.

It's believed Milan are keen to bring Van de Beek to the San Siro to replace Sandro Tonali, the 23-year-old midfielder who is close to joining Newcastle. Van de Beek should be fit for the new season after suffering a serious knee injury in January.

United's goalkeeper options

United are considering signing Feyenoord's Justin Bijlow and Eintracht Frankfurt's Kevin Trapp, as revealed by Mirror Football. Ten Hag is facing a crisis in the goalkeeping department, with David de Gea and Dean Henderson both in danger of leaving.

De Gea's contract has now expired and it's unclear whether he will agree an extension, with talks ongoing. As for Henderson, the Englishman wants to leave Old Trafford in pursuit of first-team football after spending last season on loan at Nottingham Forest.

United were interested in signing Andre Onana but are unwilling to pay Inter Milan's £60m asking price. A more realistic option is Bijlow, a 25-year-old Netherlands international who will cost around £20m. German stopper Trapp, 32, has a £10m price tag.

Forest are keen to sign Henderson on a permanent deal, with United demanding £25m for their back-up goalkeeper. That would help pay for Bijlow and Trapp.
