Man Utd transfer round-up: Amadou Haidara breaks silence as Paul Pogba option ruled out

The football at Old Trafford may have stopped for the time being, but the transfer rumours surrounding Manchester United have certainly not.

The Red Devils are currently navigating a Covid-19 outbreak, having had their Premier League match at Brentford on Tuesday postponed.

Nevertheless, interim manager Ralf Rangnick is readying for his first and potentially only window in charge and has not ruled out doing business, despite his temporary role.

And not only are incomings on the agenda, but there is rife speculation about who could leave the club next month.

The acclaimed German coach is looking to trim down his bloated squad in a bid to help United get back to the top.

Here, Mirror Football rounds up the latest gossip from Old Trafford.

Rangnick is reportedly eyeing up transfer targets (PA)

Haidara responds to links

Within days of his appointment, Rangnick's No.1 transfer target was reported: RB Leipzig midfielder Amadou Haidara.

The Malian was a favourite under the 63-year-old gaffer when they pair were together at the east German club three years ago and was also signed by Red Bull Salzburg while Rangnick was their director of football.

Haidara has now broken his silence on links to the Red Devils, with United believed to be willing to pay his £32million release clause.

"Everyone had a favourite team as a kid. Mine was Manchester United," the 23-year-old told German outlet Bild.

"I was a big fan of Cristiano Ronaldo, I liked Paul Scholes, Patrice Evra, Edwin van der Sar, Anderson.

"But if you want to talk to me about rumours: I’m at Leipzig and I feel good."

Haidara added on his former boss: "Ralf played a very big role in my career.

"Don’t forget, when Leipzig wanted to get me, I tore my cruciate ligament. But Ralf said that I should come anyway. I wouldn’t have expected that back then.

"I’m very grateful to him because he really wanted me and gave me great confidence as a coach in Leipzig. He later told me to stay with RB and trust that Julian Nagelsmann would make me better."

Barcelona 'ruled out' of Pogba race

Paul Pogba is set to leave Old Trafford within the next six months but the Frenchman's list of options appear to be getting shorter.

Most notably linked with Juventus, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, Pogba, whose contract expires in June, has also been touted as a target for Barcelona.

But the Camp Nou side are reportedly unwilling to pursue a move in January due to their perilous financial predicament.

Sport hint that Barcelona will turn their attention away from the 28-year-old, instead focussing their efforts on more attainable stars for Xavi Hernandez 's team, such as Manchester City 's Ferran Torres.

Cavani 'ready to leave'

Staying in La Liga and with Barcelona, Edinson Cavani 's time as a Red Devils cult hero looks to be reaching its end.

It is claimed that the Uruguayan would be happy to take a pay cut in order to leave United in January.

With his deal also expiring in six months' time, Spanish newspaper AS outline that Cavani would be keen in joining Xavi in Catalonia, and an initial six-month loan has been mooted.

The 34-year-old has played just 274 minutes for his club this season due to a slew of injuries but has still managed to net one goal, coming in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer 's final win as manager against Tottenham Hotspur back in October.
