
Manchester United are approaching the final week of the transfer window with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer still unsure of how his squad will look come the start of the season.
The long-awaited appointment of a technical director is yet to be made – and supporters have already begun voicing their discontent with an open letter to the club’s American owners, the Glazer family.
While Solskjaer’s side have offered signs of encouragement on the pitch – particularly in wins against Inter Milan and Tottenham during their tour to Australia and Asia – even the Man Utd manager accepts further reinforcements are required to stand any hope of closing the gap on Manchester City and Liverpool at the top.
The Norwegian entered the summer with the intention of adding as many as five new players to a squad that finished sixth last season and missed out on qualification the Champions League for the third time in six years.
So far he has only secured the signings of Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, with just the latter expected to make an immediate impact on the first team.
So with the August 8 deadline approaching, what are United’s priorities and can Solskjaer realistically expect to secure all of his targets in time for the start of his first full season in charge at Old Trafford?
