Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is ready to make Toby Alderweireld one of his first signings as Manchester United manager by activating the defender's release clause.
The Red Devils were interested in bringing the 30-year-old to Old Trafford last summer and are believed to have revived their interest in the Tottenham centre-back ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Sun report that United are prepared to match the Belgian's £25million buy-out clause as the club look to bolster their defensive options.
However, it is believed that the Manchester club are yet to make contact with their Premier League rivals over the move.
The clause comes into effect at the end of the season after Spurs triggered a 12-month extension in Alderweireld's contract in January.

Saul considering Atletico Madrid transfer as Man Utd and City keep tabs on situation
Alderweireld has made over 150 appearances for the North London side since joining from Atletico Madrid in 2015.
After seeing his game-time restricted by injury last season, he has featured heavily in the Tottenham defence during the current campaign as Mauricio Pochettino's side target a top-four finish.
He also featured in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie against Manchester City , which saw Tottenham take a 1-0 aggregate lead through a Son Heung-Min strike.
Man Utd play their first quarter-final match on Wednesday night when they welcome Barcelona to Old Trafford.

And Red Devils boss Solskjaer is hopeful that Marcus Rashford, who scored the decisive goal against Paris Saint-Germain in the previous round of the competition, will be fit to face the Spanish giants.
Rashford missed United's defeat to Wolves but returned to training ahead of the game.
"Hopefully he will be ready," Solskjaer said on Tuesday.
"He needed extra warm-up and hopefully he won’t get a reaction. He joined part of it at the end but he couldn’t join the fun part of training."
