Man Utd transfer news: £10m Championship star is summer target

Manchester United are plotting a summer move for £10m Norwich City defender Ben Godfrey.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs to sign centre-backs if he is kept on as United boss beyond this season, and Godfrey fits the bill.

The versatile 21-year-old can play in defence or in midfield, but has impressed at centre-back during Norwich's charge to the top of the Championship table.

United scouts have watched the defender numerous times this season, including at Rotherham last weekend when his goal secured three points for the promotion hopefuls.

They have been impressed by his performances, and as a young defender who is comfortable on the ball they view him as an ideal recruit, reports The Sun .

Koulibaly is a prime target as the Old Trafford re-build continues apace following years of a chaotic transfer policy, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport .

United are not alone in their pursuit of the Napoli man, with Real Madrid and Barcelona also keeping tracks on the 27 year-old as well as Premier League rivals Chelsea .

Napoli chief Aurelio de Laurentiis is believed to want somewhere in the region of £128million for his man, which would represent a sizeable return on the £6.5million the club shelled out to bring him in from Genk in 2014.
