Man Utd transfer dreams openly declared by Wesley Fofana and Vitaly Janelt

Premier League duo Wesley Fofana and Vitaly Janelt may have put Manchester United on red alert by publicly stating their affection for the Red Devils.

Leicester City's Fofana, 20, is regarded as one of the top flight's most promising centre-backs even though his progress was dealt a devastating setback this summer.

The France Under-21 star suffered a broken leg during a pre-season friendly against Villarreal in August after a horrendous challenge from Fer Nino.

The injury came after Fofana was voted Leicester's Young Player of the Season having started the FA Cup final victory over Chelsea.

Janelt, meanwhile, has also been making a name for himself after playing an important role in Brentford's impressive start to their debut Premier League campaign.

Should Manchester United prioritise signing a centre-back or defensive midfielder? Have your say in the comments!

The 23-year-old plays as a defensive midfielder and he has helped the Bees move four points clear of the relegation zone, scoring in the entertaining 3-3 draw with Liverpool in late September.

United have arguably been weakest at the base of midfield this season, where Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has chopped and changed Fred, Scott McTominay, Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic.

The Red Devils' need for a combative player to grab games by the scruff of the neck is clear - and Janelt made no secret of his feelings for the club.

"If I keep the level, I will play my whole career in the Premier League if I can," the former German youth international told Sky Sports.

"My favourite club is Manchester United, I think that is a bigger club than Brentford! We will see in the future how I will play and how improve."

Janelt is not the only emerging Premier League talent to stress their bond with United, as Fofana picked out the club as one of three in the Premier League who "makes him dream".

How should Manchester United approach the January transfer window? Give your verdict below!

“A club that makes me dream? There’s Marseille, Real Madrid, Barca (Barcelona)," the Foxes stalwart told Actufoot.

"In the Premier League, there are Chelsea, (Manchester) United, (Manchester) City… But you have to work to make your dreams come true. Through work, you can achieve anything."

Fofana also provided an update on his recovery from a fractured fibula and outlined his hope of returning to action ahead of the New Year.

He added: "I’m starting to see the end of the tunnel. The return is coming soon. It will be at the end of December, if all goes well."
