Man Utd transfer blow as Aaron Wan-Bissaka rules out summer switch

Aaron Wan-Bissaka has dealt a blow to Manchester United’s summer transfer plans by insisting he will stay with Crystal Palace next season.

The right-back has enjoyed a stunning breakthrough season at Selhurst Park, catching the eye with a string of impressive performances despite the Eagles’ struggles.

Those performances haven't gone unnoticed and United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was keen to bring him to Old Trafford as a long-term replacement for Ashley Young.

But Wan-Bissaka, who only made his senior debut during the latter stages of last season, is tied to Palace until June 2022 - and he is keen to stay put for now.

“The situation just shows that my performances don’t go unnoticed,” he told Standard Sport .

“But I am with Crystal Palace at the moment. That is where my contract is and that is where I will be next season.

"I have got three years left on my contract. It says I am going to be there, so that is all I can focus on now.”

Wan-Bissaka was recently rewarded for his impressive season by winning the Player of the Season, Players’ Player of the Season and the PFA Community Champion awards at the club's end-of-season bash this week.

And he admits this latest achievement has spurred him on to enjoy another successful campaign with the south Londoners next season.

“It feels good. It makes me feel proud to come away with three [awards],” he said. “As I say, I didn’t expect it but at the same time I am grateful to win all three.

“Obviously the dream was to perform well and stand out. To see that I have makes me feel proud, but at the same time it makes me hungrier for next season.

“I would like to add goals and rack up more assists than I have this season. I will get that by getting forward, but obviously first I have got to think about defending.”
