Man Utd told Moussa Dembele transfer won't happen because he's too ambitious

Moussa Dembele won't be signing for Manchester United this summer because he has ambitions he wants to fulfill at Lyon.

That's according to the club's president Jean-Michel Aulas, who says the French striker isn't motivated by the money he can earn at Old Trafford.

Dembele has been on United's radar all summer after being identified as a possible replacement for Romelu Lukaku.

The Red Devils have so far been unable to sell the Belgium international forward, but look set to miss out on former Fulham and Celtic star Dembele regardless.

"Moussa Dembele will not leave," Aulas told Le Parisien. "The model was made for him.

"We recruited according to him. He becomes center number one, which he was not totally last season. It is not a question of money, it is a question of ambition."

Dembele made 42 appearances in all competitions for Lyon last season, netting 18 times.

He is set to have more responsibility placed on his shoulders this campaign, and will lead the French club's line, according to Aulas.

Manchester United meanwhile are linked with Juventus ' Paulo Dybala as an alternative to the young Frenchman.
