Manchester United are set to make several changes to their coaching set-up as they look to rejuvenate the clubs fortunes under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer .
The Norwegian began his permanent residency as the club's boss last month, but recent results have outlined the level of rebuilding work that needs to be done at Old Trafford.
Mike Phelan and Michael Carrick have both been instrumental in assisting Solskjaer since he took charge on an interim basis back in December, and both will now be offered new roles, according to the Mail .
They report that Phelan will be appointed technical director - a role he held previously at Australian side Central Coast Mariners - with United keen for him to have a greater influence on shaping the club's future.
Meanwhile, Carrick will reportedly be promoted to effectively become Solskjaer's number two, once Phelan is appointed in his new role.

United chiefs, including head of corporate development Matt Judge, are big admirers of Phelan, and are said to have been in discussions with the 56-year-old already.
It is thought that Phelan still wants to hold some sway on match days, but the club would like to give him further responsibility over the club's future, with executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward keen to make his appointment formal.
That would see Carrick promoted with United preparing to offer him a new deal, having impressed since taking a more hands-on role with the first team following Jose Mourinho's sacking.
In addition, Kieran McKenna will get improved terms on his contract after his promotion to the senior coaching team in the summer.

The coaching staff helped Solskjaer make a remarkable start to his tenure at Old Trafford, which effectively landed him the job full-time.
But recent performances have laid bare how much work still needs to be done at United in order for them to challenge for major honours.
The Red Devils capped off a miserable week with a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Everton on Sunday.
Solskjaer's side failed to capitalise on results elsewhere in the race for the top four, going down to goals from Richarlison, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Lucas Digne and Theo Walcott.
